What Actually Happens

An escape room is a live, interactive puzzle game set inside an immersive themed environment. Your group — anywhere from 2 to 10 people — is placed inside a themed space and given a mission. You have 60 minutes to find hidden objects, decode clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes to complete the quest. At Ultimate Xscape Rooms, every room has its own original story: a stolen research journal in a 1890s inventor’s lab, a kingdom’s treasure hidden by a scheming lord, a rogue sorcerer’s spell that needs breaking before darkness falls.

Tips That Actually Help

The single biggest factor in how well your group does is communication. Teams that talk out loud — sharing what they find as they find it, calling out what they’ve already tried — move significantly faster than groups that go quiet and work in parallel. Don’t be too proud to ask for a hint, either. Your Game Host is there for exactly that reason. And arrive 10–15 minutes early so you’re not rushing through check-in when your clock is already ticking.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Food and drinks aren’t allowed inside the game rooms, so eat before you arrive — there are dozens of great restaurants just a block or two away in Downtown Somerville. Our rooms are designed for older teens and adults, with a minimum age of 10. Our venue is fully accessible: a private elevator connects the lobby to our second-floor rooms, and ADA-compliant restrooms are on site. And no, you won’t actually be locked in — you can exit freely at any time.

Three original rooms. Private for your group only. A $50 deposit locks in your game, date, and time — and you can add more guests at the door up to the room’s maximum of 10. Book online or call us at (908) 685-0382 if you have questions before you reserve.
