Before or After Your Game: The Best of Downtown Somerville

One of our favorite things to tell guests is that a visit to Ultimate Xscape Rooms doesn't have to be the whole evening — it can be the centerpiece of one.

Before Your Game

We always recommend arriving with a little time to spare — both to find parking without stress and to eat before you play. Puzzle-solving on an empty stomach is genuinely harder. Some of our go-to pre-game spots within a few blocks of our venue: Verve Bistro for a proper sit-down meal, Savor for something lighter, Bombay Canteen if you’re in the mood for something more flavorful, and Blue Sheep Bakery for coffee and something sweet if you’re arriving in the afternoon.

After Your Game

Whether your team escaped with two minutes to spare or used every hint and still didn’t make it, there’s no better way to debrief than over a good meal. Da Filippo is a Somerville classic for a celebratory dinner. Surf, Turf & Earth works well for groups that want something more casual. And Sweet Parlor is right there if the night calls for dessert — win or lose.

While You’re Here

Downtown Somerville has a genuinely good collection of specialty independent retailers, most of them within a 2–3 block walk of our venue. If you have time before or after your game, it’s worth a stroll down Main Street. We’re also centrally located in Somerset County — about halfway between Morristown to the north and Princeton to the south — which makes us an easy destination from most of Central and Northern New Jersey.
