An Escape Room is an interactive live-action game set in an immersive themed environment. Groups of 2 to 8 people (family, friends or colleagues) work together to unlock hidden objects, search for clues, solve puzzles, and decipher codes to complete a specific Mission or Quest in order to escape before time runs out!

We are an independent, family-owned & -operated local escape room venue. We design and build our escape games in-house which means our games are unique and one-of-a-kind!

Our escape rooms are private experiences which means you’ll never play with people you don’t know. We are the only escape room in the area offering private reservations with only a 2-person minimum! You can add more people at the door when you arrive (up to the room maximum of 8 people).

We never add any booking fees or surcharges and we only require a $50 deposit to reserve a game! 

It’s easy to book your private escape room experience! Simply click on the BOOK NOW button to view availability of our weekend games (Friday 4pm through Sunday evening) and book your experience via our secure encrypted online reservation system. We accept all major credit cards: Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. (We are a cashless venue.)
Booking in advance is highly recommended to guarantee your first choice of room theme, date and time slot. Walk-in groups are accommodated based on availability. • Because all our rooms are private, when you book the room online it will close out and show as “full” but you can add more people at the door when you arrive (up to the game maximum of 8 people).
• Groups of 9-16 people can reserve two escape rooms that are offered at the same start time as shown on our online reservation calendar. We have a set schedule on weekends (Friday 4pm through Sunday evening) and are unable to accommodate custom start times.
• Groups of 17+ people, please email or call us in advance to discuss additional scheduling options so we can best accommodate your group. 

Our rooms are best suited for older teens and adults. Children must be at least 10 years of age to enter. Younger children may find the puzzles in our rooms too challenging. We strongly recommend that for children’s birthday groups, all guests are at least 12 years of age.
Guests ages 10-14 must be accompanied in the room by at least one participating adult (18+). No exceptions.

We highly recommend booking a reservation through our secure online booking software. A deposit of only $50 guarantees your private game experience and locks in your preferred game, date and time slot. We are happy to accommodate walk-ins based on availability, but cannot guarantee that a time will be available if you arrive without a reservation. 

Weekday team building events are custom bookings and can be scheduled by reaching out to our Events Manager at info@ultimatexscaperooms.com.

No! You will never actually be locked into any of our escape rooms. In order to escape and “win,” your team will need to work together to complete a specific mission or quest. You can exit the game at any time, if necessary, or in the case of an emergency. 

Absolutely! We take great pride in ensuring that our venue is inclusive and accessible to guests who use canes, walkers, manual and electric wheelchairs or other assistive devices. Please note, however, that larger motorized scooters (ECVs) cannot be accommodated. We have a private elevator that runs between our street-level lobby entrance and our second floor where our reception area and escape rooms are located. Our restrooms are ADA-compliant and fully handicapped accessible. There are four designated handicapped parking spots across the street from our building.

Please plan to arrive at the start time of your reservation to check in and receive a pre-game orientation.

We strongly recommend allowing ample time for traffic and parking. Please visit the Directions/Parking/Contact Us page of this website for details on the closest parking to our venue. Your emailed booking confirmation will also contain a link to parking and our location.

We understand that plans can change, so reservations can be canceled up to 24 hours before the start time of your original reservation. We will issue you a store credit, to the same email address used to make the reservation, for the amount you already paid.

Alternatively, you can reschedule your game to a new date and/or time, but we still require at least a 24-hour notice before the start time of your original reservation in order to do so. Within 24 hours, you may reschedule your booking for a $50 fee.

All sales are final and there are no refunds.

Corporate Team Building Events (weekdays): We have a separate cancellation policy for team building events that supersedes our standard policy and requires a minimum 5-day cancellation notice before the start time of the original reservation for your event.

We can reschedule games up to 24 hours before the start time of your original reservation.

Within 24 hours of the start time of your original reservation, there is a $50 fee to reschedule to a new date and/or time per game.

We host private team building events on weekdays for corporations, local businesses and non-profit organizations by advance reservation. These custom events are scheduled directly with us (rather than through our online booking software) based on your team’s requested day and time (subject to availability). Our immersive, interactive escape rooms offer a unique challenge for your team and encourage cooperation, communication and collaboration among colleagues, helping to establish or solidify work relationships. We have hosted team building events for Johnson & Johnson, Home Depot, ExxonMobil, Merck & Co, Sanofi, Chubb, Hackensack Meridian Health, Rutgers University, and many others.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BOOKING AN ESCAPE ROOM GAME FOR A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, HERE IS SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• There is a minimum age requirement for our games: all attendees (including siblings) must be at least 10 years of age. As the puzzles in our rooms can be challenging for younger children, we strongly recommend that for birthday groups all guests be 12 years of age or older. 
• Children ages 10-14 must be accompanied in the room by at least one participating adult (18+).
• If you do not have a confirmed guest headcount yet, no worries! We only require a $50 deposit to hold the game! All our rooms are private experiences for your group only. Additional guests can be added at the door up to the game maximum of 8 (eight) people). You can conveniently book your private game experience through our secure online booking software (showing real-time availability). Simply visit the BOOK NOW page by clicking on the button or using the navigation menu.
• If you have a group of 9-16 people, you can reserve two escape rooms that are offered at the same start time as shown on our online reservation calendar. 
• In support of the many excellent locally owned & operated restaurants in Somerville, we do *not* offer a party room/dedicated space for serving food and drinks at our venue. We are centrally located in Downtown Somerville just 1-3 blocks away from an amazing variety of dining options including casual and fine dining, pizzerias, and artisan sweet shops! 

For shorter visits of 1-3 hours, we recommend the metered, on-street parking:

The Downtown Somerville district boasts an amazing variety of both casual and fine dining establishments – thanks to our venue’s central location, all are conveniently located within a short walking distance! We are locals and love to make recommendations for the best places for YOUR group (preferred cuisine, atmosphere, dietary preferences/restrictions).

We’re sorry, but no food or drinks can be taken in the game rooms. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on our premises. Our interactive escape games require you to engage your cognitive skills and to remain alert and focused. Anyone arriving visibly intoxicated will be denied admission. Guests who fail to follow the safety rules will be removed from the room and no refunds or credit will be provided. 

We’d love to help you raise funds for your non-profit organization! We prioritize supporting non-profits serving our local area: Somerville, Raritan, Hillsborough and Bridgewater. We will also consider donation requests from non-profits operating within the greater Central New Jersey area. 

Donation Request Guidelines: You’ll need to email the following information to info@ultimatexscaperooms.com.

• your organization’s literature (mission and background)
• event details (description, date)
• copy of your Tax Exempt Organization Certificate (Form ST-5)

Once we receive your information, we’ll review your request through our donation process. If your request is approved, we will send you an email which will include a Gift Certificate valued at $35! (We don’t mail out donations. All donations will be emailed.)

We reserve the right to deny your request due to the large number of requests we receive. Additionally, we do not accept any mail-in or drop-off donation requests. Please email us directly to be considered for a donation.

We are a local, family-owned small business and, unfortunately, we do not have the extra staff or time to fill out donor forms as we receive an overwhelming number of donation requests for Spring and Fall fundraising events.

Weekend availability is required. Part-time schedules generally range from 10-20 hours per week. Training is provided.
Student applicants: you must be available during the school year and during school breaks. Candidates must be at least 17 years of age to apply.
